WANA (May 12) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the Islamic Republic’s unwavering commitment to peaceful global engagement, stating that Iran is ready for serious negotiations and seeks a genuine agreement — but firmly rejected any calls to dismantle the country’s nuclear infrastructure.

“We are negotiating because we want peace,” Pezeshkian declared in remarks addressing the ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States. “However, the notion of dismantling Iran’s entire nuclear facilities is absolutely unacceptable.”

The President reiterated that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons, a position rooted in both the country’s strategic policy and religious beliefs. “We have clearly stated, and our Supreme Leader’s fatwa confirms, that the pursuit or development of nuclear weapons is forbidden. We have never sought such weapons, nor will we ever,” he said.

Pezeshkian criticized demands suggesting Iran should halt its nuclear research in exchange for negotiations, stressing that this contradicts both Iran’s rights and its developmental needs. “We rely on nuclear technology for vital sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, the environment, and industry. These achievements are not up for negotiation,” he said.

He also rejected any assumptions about Iran’s supposed weakness. “Some may believe we are vulnerable and make claims in the media. But our nation stands united, cohesive, and strong. The sacrifices of our scientists will not be bartered away.”

Addressing regional concerns, the President noted that Iran supports regional stability and cooperation. “We talk because we want peace — not war. Iran has never been a source of regional unrest. That role belongs to the Israeli regime,” Pezeshkian asserted.

“The world should understand that Iran is a country committed to regional peace and security. Muslim nations are brothers and can achieve lasting peace without foreign interference,” he said.

According to the official statement from the President’s Office, Pezeshkian reaffirmed the government’s firm resolve to safeguard the country’s peaceful nuclear achievements.

“We are following all our activities under the framework of the United Nations and the international system for peaceful nuclear energy,” he noted.

Pezeshkian concluded by stressing that Iran is ready for dialogue but not at the expense of its sovereignty or scientific progress. “We are committed to peaceful engagement with the world and to upholding our people’s rights and our scientists’ achievements,” he said. “The path to peace does not require surrender.”
